This is a 1980's vintage black mesh handbag from iconic American heritage brand 'Whiting & Davis'.
Founded in 1876 in Massachusetts, Whiting & Davis have had prolific designers lend their creative talent to the brand, including the renowned and prolific Elsa
Schiaparelli and trailblazing French designer, Paul Poiret in the 1930's.
Whiting & Davis handbags have been sported by screen sirens and celebrities through the decades, including Jane Wyatt in the 30's to Jane Russell in the 50's to contemporary famous femmes including Lady Gaga, Nicole Kidman, Kim Cattrall and Eva Longoria to name a few.
This medium sized handbag has a curved opening with a gold tone zipper pull with the letters "W & D" in Art Nouveau font.
The top section of the bag is constructed of a vinyl material akin to faux leather and the bottom section is constructed of black mesh, the brand's signature trademark material.
It has a 1.5cm wide strap which attaches to the bag's side seams with two gold tone metal rivets at each side.
Its interior is a pale grey colour and it has a rigid, fabric partition in the centre. There is an internal pouch with zip closure and 'Whiting & Davis since 1876' label sewn inside.
A versatile bag that can be used as either a day or evening bag.
