Label sizes of vintage clothing are different to today's clothing sizes, and some items are not labelled at all.  We provide specific measurements for each item, as it's the most accurate way for us to help you determine fit with one of a kind garments.  We also provide an approximate size to give you a general idea of size.

If you require further measurements or have a question about sizing of a particular item, please email us at shoponline@arkivevintage.com (quoting the SKU number listed below the item) and we'll email you back!

GENERAL SIZE GUIDE - CLOTHING

We list an approximate size in the garment's description.  This is to give you a general idea if the item will fit, and should not be used as the sole way of determining size.  We recommend that if you wish to purchase an item, that you use the measurements listed in the'Specific Size Guide'.

Refer to the 'General Size Guide - Clothing' table below to determine your approximate size.

SPECIFIC SIZE GUIDE - CLOTHING

The best way to calculate your size is to measure a garment that you already own which is similar and you know fits you.  Measure it in the same way that we measure our garments as shown in the images below and compare the measurements.  It is important to measure your garments whilst they are laying flat.

Dimensions given are in centimetres and the listed measurements do not include any stretch the item may have unless specified.

Men's and Ladies Footwear

All our footwear is sized in Australian sizing.  Use the conversion tables below as a guide to determine your shoe size.

How to measure your feet:

1. Stand on a level floor with the back of your heels against a straight wall.

2. Measure your foot length by placing a ruler flat on the floor straight alongside the inner side of your foot - from your heel to your toes.

3. Place a straight edged object (e.g. book or A4 paper) horizontally across your toes with the edge touching the tip of your longest toe.

4. Take the measurement from the ruler (in centimetres) of the length of the foot (from the wall to the straight edged object) as in the image below.  This is your foot length measurement.

5. If your foot measurement is halfway between sizes, select the larger size.  Use the tables above to convert your foot length measurement to a shoe size.

Men's Footwear

In addition to providing an estimated shoe size on the product page, we also provide a measurement of the SHOE LENGTH.  This measurement is taken from the tip of the toe to the back of the heel of the shoe  (shoe length is generally 2cm longer than foot length).

....A quick way to determine if the shoe will fit, is by measuring the length of a pair of your own shoes and comparing this to the shoe length measurement listed on the product page....

We also take a measurement of WIDTH, at the widest part of the shoe/boot (see image) and the HEIGHT for boots.
